This was our Colorization Project. Two of the major things I learned from this project were creating selections using masks, and how to add color so that it had a realistic effect. I did not want a completely realistic effect as I was attempting to make the image appear to be and old photo from the 50's.  I imagined the young woman as daydreaming about some far off love serving in the military while enjoying her favorite soda, which led to the addition of "True Loves" into the image.  I spent a good deal of time trying to capture subtle color effects, such as the fact that you can slightly see the purple of her sweater through the green soda bottle. Although difficult to see here there is even a slight green reflection on her skin where the bottle is next to it. I also went so far as to give her a French manicure. Overall I really enjoyed this project as it pushed me to see beyond the basic image and do some investigation into how colors might reflect or interact with one another.
