Drawing has been
the focus for the majority of the body of art I have done throughout the years. It all
started when I was a very young child and I picked up a crayon, and simply, never stopped
drawing. I enjoy a wide range of media, as well as technique. Here you will find
several examples from the various media, and examples of some of my favorite techniques,
such as realism, cross-hatching, pointillism, and mixed media. This is a complete
mix of school and personal work, as with me, there are no assignments when it comes to
drawing. I have a passion for
the use of graphite. I love the variety in shades I can achieve with the use of graphite.
Graphite pencil drawings have a simple elegance about them that strikes me every
time, much like how black and white photos reach within and tend to be associated with the
past, or a simpler time. I also find that simplicity and feel in ink drawings.
Here is where I revel in the use of various techniques that lend themselves
beautifully to the medium of ink. You will see examples of cross-hatching, pointillism,
and ink washes in this body of work.
One of my other great loves has been colored
pencil, especially with the use of Prismacolor pencils. I strive to master the use
of these pencils and have found that I treat them more like paint than pencil. I am still
relatively new the media of charcoal and pastel. I hate to admit it but the main
reason I stayed away from them in the first place was because of how messy they are.
Thankfully my experience with ceramics and oil paint, and the absolute inability to
stay clean working with those media cured me of my need to be clean while creating art.
I hope to continue to experiment further with these media.

arranged in order of the best work from each media. Some are examples of a series of work,
or include the entire series in order. For example, under graphite, the first three pieces
are a series. |
